What are service tags?

Service tags are special tags that are not linked to a specific member. Instead, you can use service tags to provide access to your facility for service providers, like delivery people or cleaners. Service tags can also be used to turn on court lights if needed.

If you want to assign a tag to a member instead, use member tags instead.

Creating new service tags

To create a new service tag:

  1. Go to the Club module. (Note: depending on your settings, this module could be called differently, for example Organisation or Association)
  2. Open the Service Tags card.
  3. Press the Add tag button.
  4. Enter a name or identifier for the tag.
  5. Scan the tag using the USB tag reader.
  6. Assign tag permissions as needed.

You can add as many service tags as needed.

Temporarily disabling service tags

You can temporarily disable a service tag to prevent it from being used:

  1. Go to the Club module and open the Service Tags card.
  2. Locate the tag you want to disable and choose Disable from the tag’s context menu.
  3. Confirm you are disabling the correct tag and press Disable again.

Disabled tags will appear red in the tag overview:

Re-enabling service tags

To re-enable a disabled service tag:

  1. Go to the Club module and open the Service Tags card.
  2. Locate the tag you want to enable and choose Enable from the tag’s context menu.

Enabled tags will appear green in the tag overview:

Removing service tags

To permanently remove a service tag from the system:

  1. Go to the Club module and open the Service Tags card.
  2. Locate the tag you want to remove and choose Remove from the tag’s context menu.
  3. Confirm you are removing the correct tag and press Remove again.

Troubleshooting

A service tag I’ve added doesn’t seem to work

Double check that the relevant tag is not disabled and that it has the right permissions. If the tag looks damaged, try replacing it with a new tag.

The USB tag reader doesn’t work on my computer

Make sure that the USB tag reader is connected properly to your computer’s USB port and ensure that your keyboard is set to an US keyboard layout. If you’ve upgraded your computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10, you may need to replace your tag reader with a new version.
