How to add, change, renew, pause, stop and remove memberships for your members manually

While we have tried to make the membership renewal process as quick and simple as possible, you may occasionally find yourself needing to manually renew, change, pause or stop a membership for a member.

Follow the steps in this article to manage your memberships effectively.

Assigning a new membership

To assign a new membership for a specific member:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card

  4. Click on the Add membership button

A dialog will show up where you can choose the membership type and specify the start and end date for the new membership:

Optionally, you can also create a transaction for the membership fee and notify the member of the new membership. Click on Save to confirm.

Renewing a membership

To renew a membership for a specific member:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card and find the membership you want to renew

  4. Click on the context menu and choose Renew

You will be presented with a dialog with the following options:

Confirm that all the details look correct, and if needed, modify the start and end date of the new membership, and/or the transaction amount to charge the member.

Creating a transaction fee for the membership is optional and can be disabled if you don’t want to charge the member.

Click on Renew to confirm the renewal.

Pausing a membership

To temporarily pause a membership for a specific member:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card and find the membership you want to renew

  4. Click on the context menu and choose Pause

In the dialog you will be prompted to specify the pause and resumption date:

Note: Pausing a membership will stop the current membership on the pause date, and start a new membership on the resumption date. The new membership will have its end date automatically extended by the duration of the paused period.

Changing a membership

To change a membership for a specific member:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card and find the membership you want to renew

  4. Click on the context menu and choose Edit

You will be presented with a dialog where you can modify the start and end date of the membership. It is not possible to change the membership type at this stage, due to the possibility that there may be other members linked to that membership.

Stopping a membership

To stop a membership for a specific member:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card and find the membership you want to renew

  4. Click on the context menu and choose Stop

A dialog will show up where you can select the date at which to stop the membership:

Click on Stop to confirm.

Removing a membership

To remove a membership altogether:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and find the member you want to edit

  2. Click on their name or use Edit from the context menu

  3. Open the Memberships card and find the membership you want to renew

  4. Click on the context menu and choose Remove

A dialog will ask you to confirm the removal.

Note: this will also remove the membership of any linked memberships.
