Manually assigning pin numbers

Administrators can manually assign a pin number to any member, even those that already have an access tag. These pin numbers can be temporary of nature or permanent, although we recommend only handing out temporary pin numbers for security reasons.

Temporary pin numbers can be valid between 10 minutes and 24 hours, with a variety of options in between.

Manually assigning a temporary pin number can be useful if someone forgot their tag and is stranded at the door.

How do I assign a new pin number?

To manually assign a new pin number:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and locate the member in question using the search box or simply by finding their name in the list.

  2. Click on the member’s name or use the Edit option in the member’s context menu.

  3. Open the Access Control card.

  4. Press the Add tag button.

  5. Select Pin number as the type and adjust the name if needed.

  6. Enter a 6 digit number or click the arrows button to generate a random pin.

  7. Choose the desired validity duration.

  8. Press Confirm to save the pin number and add it to the system.

Note that you cannot currently change the validity duration after adding a pin number, so if you need to change this you’ll have to remove the pin number and add it again.

How do I remove a pin number again?

To remove temporary pin numbers again:

  1. Go to your Members in the People module and locate the member in question using the search box or simply by finding their name in the list.

  2. Click on the member’s name or use the Edit option in the member’s context menu.

  3. Open the Access control card.

  4. Locate the pin number in question.

  5. Select the Remove option in the tag’s context menu.
